Who We Are
The Memory & Attention Center provides neurocognitive evaluations of mild and major neurocognitive impairment. The Center operates alongside Limbic Resources, Inc. (LR) which owns and manages a broad array of services, with two clinical sites doing business as: Lewis Bay Associates in Hyannis and Bourne Pond Associates in Buzzard’s Bay, MA.
LR’s managing director is Arthur Bence, LICSW and he also is co-clinical director, with Dr. Gerald Elovitz for LR services. The Memory & Attention Center operates out of both our locations, and in close cooperation with the backup psychiatry, counseling and substance-abuse services provided by LR. Thus we have the capacity to evaluate, treat and consult on patients with neurocognitive, emotional and behavioral problems. Much of the evaluation work done by the Center is home-based, and we regularly visit all the assisted living facilities on the Cape and islands.

President, Limbic Resources, Inc.
Art, a licensed clinical social worker, has seen folks of all ages in outpatient and mental health clinic settings for close to 40 years. His primary work has been in managing mental health services in clinics and other settings on the Cape and in SE Massachusetts. He and Jerry formed Limbic Resources, Inc. which owns and operates Lewis Bay Associates and Bourne Pond Associates. Through these two sites LR offers a range of services to seniors, families and others of all ages in SE Massachusetts. As we accept Medicare and most forms of Medicaid (MassHealth) this requires much oversight and attention to regulations, which Art provides. Off-Cape, he and Jerry have also managed the pre-employment psychological testing of all new hires for the Mass. Dept. of Corrections (DOC) and Dept. of Youth Services (DYS) for many years.
Jerry studied psychology at Amherst College and was certified as a teacher through Smith College; he earned three advanced degrees all related to psychological testing at the Pennsylvania State Univ. His neuropsychology training was through a postdoctoral Fellowship at the Harvard Medical School. He worked with children for 20 years and then re-specialized in geropsychology over 1994–1998 through Columbia Hospital in West Palm Beach, FL where he helped establish their demonstration dementia evaluation program for the world-wide Columbia/HCA hospital system. He has, since, been on staff at seven geropsychiatric inpatient units in SE Mass, and has seen thousands of patients on the Cape & Islands over the past 40 years.
Neuropsychology Specialist
Carolyn completed her Doctorate of Psychology degree at George Washington University. Her internship was in the maximum-security forensic facility at Saint Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, D.C. She has worked in schools, prison settings and outpatient clinics with specialities in treating Borderline Personality Disorder and in psychological testing. She has been working as a psychometrist with Jerry developing skills in geropsychology. (photo coming)
Information Specialist & Office Manager
Craig and Jerry have worked together for 23+ years. A history major in college, Craig has since developed remarkable skills in working with families and patients to guide them through the details of our evaluations and other services at Lewis Bay Associates. He manages over 200 folks on our waiting list at any one time and interfaces with nearly all medical practices on the Cape and Islands. He will usually be your first contact with the Memory Center.
Training Specialist and Information Manager
Gail has a B.A. and masters degree and has extensive experience on the Cape, including being the first Director of Training for Alzheimer's Services where she designed the training programs and newsletter still used today by Hope Alzheimer's Services. She does dementia-related staff training, planning and family consultation/support. She also assists in computer scoring system development used at the Memory Center.
We have many other clinicians and office staff personnel associated with our practices under Limbic Resources, Inc. Our clinical specialties include a psychiatric nurse practitioner, geropsychology, substance abuse counseling, family & couples counseling, and all other aspects of general mental health services. Most insurances and most forms of Medicare and Medicaid are accepted.

The Memory Center is part of a larger mental health group practice called Lewis Bay Associates based at 119 Cedar Street in Hyannis, MA which is in the Cape Cod Hospital district. Our new practice location, Bourne Pond Associates, is located in Buzzard's Bay, MA at 258 Main Street–across the street from the Mezza Luna restaurant.
